Attending the first Digital Barn gathering exceeded my expectations! My 'branding' focus was to understand how to build my website...Jeff patiently, and I do emphasize patiently, walked me through the steps and suggested I make it a blog-based website. A barn raising is an event during which a community comes together to assemble a barn for one of its households. Then, when the work is done for the day, everybody kicks back and enjoys a meal together. We don't need to build a barn, but each of us needs to construct a framework upon which to hang our online identity. This is an opportunity to get together for a few hours to support each other as we each work to build our presence online. That could be a blog, website, Linkedin, Twitter, or Facebook page. Here's the plan: we will gather at the home of Jeffrey Blake and Jacquelyn Jenkins, beginning about 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 09. Bring your laptop. This is not an organized workshop, just some time set aside for each participant to work on their online presence in a supportive atmosphere, sharing ideas and expertise. At about 12:00 noon, we will stop working if we want to and share some food and drink together. Bring your laptop and ideas. What do you want or need to work on? Setting up or expanding your Linkedin page? Starting a blog? Building a website? Stake out a spot in the living room -- there's a wireless network -- and get to work for a few hours. Exchange ideas and expertise, ask questions, share knowledge, build stuff.
